Through their kisses and caresses they experienced a joy and wonder the equal of which has never been known or heard of. But I shall be silent...; for the rarest and most delectable pleasures are those which are hinted at, but never told.

About This Quote

The story of the loves of the goddesses Hestia, Aphrodite, and Venus is one of the most romantic stories of all time. The story begins with Hestia, the goddess of home and hearth. She was married to Hephaestus, the god who forged the gods’ many beautiful gifts. Those gifts were made out of fire.

Hephaestus was a very jealous god who did not want his wife to have any other lovers. So he created a series of magical rings that would keep his wife away from other lovers. However, Hestia was not one to be kept away from love for long.

According to Greek mythology, she fell in love with Ares, the god of war. When her husband found out about this affair he created a ring that would only allow Ares to see her. She then became known as Aphrodite (goddess of love). One day, Ares came to visit his wife at home and she welcomed him into her house.

Aphrodite then revealed herself as Venus (goddess of beauty) and seduced him right there in his own home! These two lovers were so happy together that they decided to make their love permanent by having children. However, Hephaestus found out about his wife’s affair with Ares and created yet another ring that would only allow Venus to see her husband at certain times; he also created one for himself so that he could see both couples at once. The two couples soon conceived two children: Cupid (the god of love) and Psyche (goddess of beauty). Cupid was born first but Psyche became pregnant shortly thereafter; she gave birth just before Venus’ wedding anniversary with Hephaestus.

Unfortunately for Psyche, Cupid had been born with wings so he could fly away at any time! Cupid taught Psyche how to fly but she realized too late that Cupid was no longer there when she needed him most. Cupid had flown off on his own mission to find Venus and bring her back to her home in Aphrodite’s arms! Venus and Hephaestus were overjoyed when they heard that their missing daughter had returned home safely but they were not pleased when they learned that Cupid had been the one to bring her back! The two gods divorced their spouses and reconciled them soon afterwards so they could live happily ever after together in marriage bliss.
